About the Author

Athena W. Hernandez is a storyteller. With over 25 years as a marketing and communications executive, she is also an author and literacy advocate. Armed with a BA in English and an MFA in writing for children and young adults, she not only crafts captivating stories, but she also guides fellow wordsmiths on the path to publicity prowess.

As a champion for aspiring authors, she has evolved and combined her talents to weave her marketing and publicity expertise into a tapestry of author empowerment.

During the pandemic, Athena added a touch of contemporary romance magic to her repertoire and published her first novel under the enchanting pen name Leila Love. A fierce supporter of storytelling, she also serves the romance writing community as the membership committee chair of the Romance Writers of America.
?
She has helped shape some of the most compelling stories of our time during her decades-long career including reuniting child victims of Hurricane Katrina, the launch of Maryland's first full-day kindergarten program, and electing Maryland's first Black governor.

Currently, she commands the stage as the Director of Marketing and Communications for the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation and volunteers with Reach Incorporated's Teen Publishing Project, infusing stories with the power to change narratives both on and off the page.
