Broken: Genesis: Book 1 of the Broken Saga
David Castillo was broken during a clandestine mission. A powerful AI chipset was inserted
into his skull in preparation for the covert operation. A second implant, powered by a generator
attached to his heart, was embedded in his chest. Dropped into rugged, unforgiving terrain,
the sacrificial agent has no idea the assignment was planned to fail. Captured and tortured
by his enemies, his broken body eventually returns to the very organization that had betrayed him.

Deprived of sensory input, David hears a voice echo out of the depths of the smothering blackness
that envelopes him. A strange dialogue with the unknown presence leads him to fear he is suffering
auditory hallucinations. David fears slipping over the edge of sanity. Upon returning to full awareness,
he is shocked to discover he is an isolated prisoner in a secret facility.

David is caught between two powerful adversaries—Karl Jantzen, Director of Middle East Operations,
and Dr. Gerald Frankel. Jantzen wants one thing from David: his life. Doctor Gerald Frankel warns
David that his only avenue to live is becoming the subject of an AI-human interface project. Neither
man is willing to grant David his freedom.

David Castillo fears his life or sanity will be forfeit unless he finds a means to escape from his
prison. He rejects Dr. Frankel's contention that his body is hosting a new sentient lifeform.
But he'll willingly embrace the concept if the voice in his head helps him escape!

About the Author

I was born in rural Southeast Missouri in the middle of the last century. Turning eighteen, Uncle Sam
provided a job for me. The GI Bill turned out to be my ticket to a college degree, allowing me to make a
career out of programming computers. Writing computer programs--a career full of
technical challenges focused on technology, was a good career. Now I am retired, and I write books
instead of programs.

My wife and I lived in Palm Beach County for twenty years, where a walk on the beach could turn
up sea shells, shark teeth, bits of coral and odd bits of flotsam. Now we live in Tennessee, where we enjoy
the changing seasons!
