Bring Back the Whigs

Bring Back The Whigs is a collection of 100 fresh and cutting-edge essays about current issues which dissect many elements of the country’s fabric with a biting wit and candid suggestions. Many of the satirical columns skewer the political landscape while including a “Political Courage Test, a “Politicare” program for ousted politicians, “Political Privatization”, a “National Hysteria Index”, and even a “Gridlock Video” game. A key question is raised: Should the Whigs, a dead political body, be brought back to life? Other topics include political labelitis, signing statements, entitlements, gerrymandering, disinformation, plea bargaining club, American Exceptionalism, punditry, benign dictator education, filibusters, a new public pulpit, dealing with spins and half truths, minimum wage blues, stopping obesity, mandatory bicycle use, a new machismo, hoisting the value of emotional age, rendition in reverse, improving military morale, etc.
The provocative essays also cover culture war champions, senior commandos, adjusting the Supreme Court, confounding phone marketers, considering a home “know thyself” kit, American Sharia and asymmetric peace, and a secret program about American Deathnauts. Reasons for a “Nothing Museum”, a “Divorce Tax”, and a new tort of “Mental Adverse Possession” come into play. One can learn about ways to sort out the kings and queens of the celebrity world and master the new “CBR –Comic Brainstorm Routine.” An “Offensive Humor Calculator” is likely to attract attention.
The U.S. may seem a bit different after absorbing some of these essays.
