"Between painting a fantastic backdrop for Rick and Dani, Ms Joachim takes her time in introducing her heroine and does so at the same time she introduces the mysterious Jess.

With such a fabulous descriptions as— “When he rolled over at six, the morning sun poked him in the eye.” and “Particles of dust glittered and danced in the sun, like flakes of gold.” Ms Joachim weaves her magic again.

I laughed at the side bet between therapist and patient. At this point in the story it’s almost obvious who is going to win. But... don’t forget two women entered Rick’s life at the same time. I’m eager to read on.

‘Weave’ is a good word when describing Ms Joachim’s writing when a potential meeting looms between Rick and an ‘ex’ appears to be looming.

Both her main characters have lessons to learn and their road to a happy ending is far from smooth. Her hero not only has to face reality, there are suddenly a lot of people getting in his way. As for Ms. Joachim’s heroine, she also has issues to face, trust being the major one.

I enjoyed this author’s easy-to-read writing style, including her entertaining cast of secondary characters, and her gift of using her settings like another major character in her story.
