Overview

Who has left a mark on you? A parent? A significant other? A teacher? A friend?

I think that we are all branded- whether it be by our past, our environment, the people we love, or the people who fail to love us.

Come with me on a journey through the experiences and people that have branded a mark on me and molded me into who I have become and how I have branded my mark on the world.

"Branded: an Original Book of Poetry" is the first poetry book I have written and my passion project. I hope it brands a mark on your heart.

With gratitude,
Brandi the Writer

About the Author

About the Author

I have always loved books. Both my Mom and Dad were serious about education and getting good grades, but I loved school anyway, especially reading and writing. To this day, I am a Goodreads regular, reading over a dozen books a year.

As early as elementary school, I recall a teacher who wanted me to join an after-school writing club offered to the students a grade above my own because I wrote a short story about a child who added color to a black and white world by shooting an arrow into a rainbow. At just 8 years old, I placed 2nd in an essay contest with over 100 submissions and won a bike. When my family got our first computer, my sister and I would sit at it for hours, writing. When I was in 5th grade, I began writing poetry,

My love of school quickly led me into the education field. Throughout the years, I thought about writing books, but rejected the idea of ever being “good enough” to be a published author.

While taking a child development class, I came across the suggestion that before telling a child why they cannot do something, it is important to ask ourselves, “Why not?” If we do not have a good reason, it is a good rule of thumb to allow them to do it. As years passed, I began to apply that principle to myself and started to do things that I have always wanted to do. Then, one day, I revisited the idea of writing professionally. “ Why not?”, I asked myself.

And so began my journey into becoming a writer. I began to write children’s books and poetry and started to compile my work. I am very proud of myself and how far I have come in my writing career, and I want to encourage everyone to also do what you love and to dream big.
