Brains Benton: The Case of the Insane Woman Down Memory Lane
What began as a short (6 book) series about a young duo of would-be detectives (1959-1961) has recently been added to by several "fan" authors who fondly recall the adventures of Brains and Jimmy. This is the first Brains Benton book by author Thomas Hudson (The New TOM SWIFT Invention Adventures, etc.) and features Brains and Jimmy now grown up, college educated, and gainfully employed.

Circumstances see them both returning to their small home town where, to pass the time, they agree to take on a small case of grocery theft. When that proves to be a simple one-night-stand, they might be at a loss but Jim's own sister requests that they look into the mysterious things happening to one of her old, and treasured, teachers.

When the woman appears to have gone mad they think about dropping it all, but a series of the most strange things begin to happen and it draws them into the mystery of Mrs. Periwinkle and her rather strange daughter.

This is a fun and fond extension to the original series and can be enjoyed almost as much as a stand-alone read as it can by going back and starting the series from the beginning.

About the Author

Thomas Hudson generally concentrates on fiction aimed at both young adults (teens!) as well as anyone up to the age of 100 who remembers the fun of reading a good Tom Swift story. His new series, The New TOM SWIFT Invention Adventures reached 15 novels by the end of 2015 with at least 5 more—and perhaps up to 15 more—planned in the coming few years.

He has been writing for school and work since the late 1960s and for fun since about 2009.

His works may be found on several well-known Internet-based web sites that deal with the sale of both printed and electronic books.
