Overview

The Left Brain and Right Brain have divorced; unable to meet in the middle, and now on their deathbed, it is all up to Heart—to get the last of their story out before it's too late.

Brain Dead is the third book in a series of poetry and prose by AMS Golden (Conversations from the Left, Right, and Heart, 2021; Divorce of the Left & Right, 2022). It chronicles the struggle of following one's heart through the head's noise, and what happens to the heart as a result. Brain Dead picks up right where Divorce of the Left & Right ended and addresses the very raw and real emotions and feelings experienced over the last three years of AMS Golden's life.

AMS Golden has never claimed to be a poet. Her only hope was that maybe something she wrote (something she felt) would reach someone else who felt it too, and suddenly... There was someone who understood. Every word she wrote was to help readers feel less lonely or crazy, to help others through their feelings, and to let people know—she feels it too. No one is alone.

About the Author

Born and raised in the same small port-town in New Jersey as George R.R. Martin, AM has been writing for years. After a the challenges of the pandemic, feeling as though she was losing herself, she sat down and collected her thoughts and writing and created Conversations from the Left, Right, and Heart. Just over a year later, Divorce of the Left and Right was born. In time, AM hopes to share more of her prose and writing (including a memoir and essay that are in the works).

AM has spent the last ten years working with individuals with disabilities. She is currently a career coach for STEM majors, students with disabilities, and students without documents. When AM is not working or in class, her hobbies include reading and writing (of course), cooking (and singing and dancing in the kitchen), playing the piano, theatrical makeup, and playing with her two basset hounds. She is an advocate for mental health awareness, the LGBTQ+ community, brain tumor awareness, and Angelman Syndrome.
