About the Author

Meredith Allison is a writer (and reader) of many kinds of fiction, but in particular historical crime and dark thrillers.

A native of Lincoln, Nebraska, she is by proxy a Huskers fan (GO BIG RED!), as UNL is her undergraduate alma mater, and moonlights as an obligatory Blue Jays fan due to completing her graduate MFA studies at Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska.

On any given Sunday during NFL season, you can catch her and her husband rooting for the Kansas City Chiefs from her living room or occasionally Arrowhead Stadium.

Meredith does a great job of creating a storyline of life during the Prohibition era and learning that no one can be trusted, not even blood. The beginning was a little heavy with character introduction but they are all pieced together throughout the story. I thought it was well written and did not seem over the top even though a lot was happening. It made the story seem more realistic with known gangsters as characters.
