Blood Offering
When the High Priest of Chak back in Tik'al, the distant Maya capital, sent K'an Pak'am north to Tulum to learn more about the foreign ways of the exiled Spaniard, Antonio Domingues, the young priest of the Rain God didn't think the older man had imagined that he would be up to his elbows in the blood, not of sacrificial victims, but of murdered young women. And yet, as one girl after another turns up dead with a bizarre glyph carved into her flesh, it seems that K'an Pak'am may be the only man able, or even interested, in putting a stop to it and bringing the terror to an end. But while identifying the culprit will be hard enough, bringing the murderer to justice will be even harder. The villain will almost certainly be a powerful member of the local elite, but in the end might even prove to be someone the young priest admires greatly.

About the Author

Joseph Cozart lives in Des Moines, Iowa with his wife Jeanine. He grew up in the Los Angeles area and will always live there in his soul, especially in winter. His motivation in writing this and the others of his Maya books was to simply have that remarkable civilization survive European contact. Hopefully the result is as interesting to read as it was to write.
