Another Sam Capra thriller from this three-time Edgar nominee? Actually not. Abbott has decided to write a stand-alone psychological suspense novel, for which there are no plot details but at least a setting: Austin, TX. With a 25,000-copy first printing and a five-city tour.

This unconventional thriller features four different characters who are portrayed by Bailey Carr, Lauren Fortgang, Vanessa Johansson, and Greg Tremblay. Teenager Jane Norton is still suffering from amnesia from a car accident two years ago. Faced with questions about what happened and the mystery of an anonymous note from someone who appears to hold the answers, she strives to discover the truth as the story delves into the importance of memory. The theme of the mystery doesn’t disrupt the flow of the story but doesn’t contribute to it greatly either. In addition, the voices of the female narrators are so similar that it’s not immediately apparent that different narrators are being used. Regardless, this is an intriguing listen.
