Black Divinity: Manifesto of the Black Theocracy Second Edition
Theocracies have, in some form or another, existed since ancient Egypt (Kemet). The term, meaning rule of God, implies a religious or clerical rule. However, A. L. Saunders puts together, with justifiable reasoning, a clever tapestry of biblical exegesis to show the idea of theocracy in the form of a dictatorship of Christ. This, combined with the idea that God, as love, should rule in our lives, creates a ferment of intoxicating proportions. Through these and many other complex arguments, Saunders shows how the kingdom of God is achievable in our lifetime and how the New York City street life has already achieved a level and variation of this kingdom in their own culture.

The Black Divinity exposes the intricate beauty and complexity of the New York City street culture to allow those outside to see that those in the United States street life actually do have a very respectable, while yet Afro-centric, doctrinal system (including pneumatology, psychology, ethnology, anthropology, sociology, eschatology, soteriology, Christology, and ecclesiology) and how it applies to the real world. It is also an attempt to fulfill the mission of the early Afro-centric movements and resurrect an Afro-chic culture that connects black people the world over with the souls of our ancestors in ancient Kush.

***
Saunders traces the lines of an African American-centric theology based on ancient Egyptian ideas, which regard each black man as having the potential to become a spiritually actualized member of society. He offers this premise against the backdrop of major economic, religious, and historical movements-including the philosophies of Jesus, Karl Marx, Elijah Muhammad, and the Nation of Islam-for context that helps illustrate Saunders's belief that drawing pride and inspiration from these histories and traditions is a valuable tool "for the further empowering of our people."
