About the Author

Following retirement from a lengthy, and successful career encompassing many facets of business, the author embarked on a new vocation by accepting employment as an Instructional Assistant/ILS at a high school in the Pasco County (Florida) School District. This experience provided the author with the opportunity to manage a computer assisted instruction lab for drop-out prevention students, assisting them in developing reading, writing, and math skills.
The author led a number of workshops for students who had difficulty in passing the competency test required for graduation, as well as tutoring individual students and sharing test preparation techniques.
She also organized and oversaw the management of the student-run school store which sold school supplies and spirit items to meet student needs at a reduced cost. The profits were returned to the students by providing a number of scholarships to deserving graduating seniors.
In addition, Mrs. Lott served on the School Advisory Council for a number of years; chaired the Attendance Committee; judged senior projects, organized and co-chaired a Mentoring Program; and was a member of the Literacy Committee, and also the CAPA Board. She retired from the school district in June 2008. Currently she is a member of Pasco Writers. She and her husband, Charlie, have one son, a daughter-in law, and two adult grandchildren. They reside in Bayonet Point, Florida.
Lott also wrote Poor…but Very, Very Rich: a Personal Memoir of Growing Up in Southwest Philadelphia During the 1930s and 40s.
