Comprising the second part of the two-volume set titled , this monograph builds on the first part which addressed molecular mechanisms of Superoxide Dismutase (SOD) model antitumor effects (1998). The present volume begins by discussing the search for antitumor agents among complex copper compounds, then picks up where the first volume left off, at Part III. Beginning there, it covers SOD models in combined tumor therapy, cytotoxicity, chemoprotection, the control of iron metabolism, radioprotection and radiosensibilization, effects on the immune system, influence on lipid metabolism in tumor cells and signal transduction, inhibition of recurrences and metastases, drug resistance, the induction of differentiation, and stimulators of the blood producing system. Whether due to being a poor translation or being written in the authors' second language, the text contains some challenging locutions and is difficult to follow in places. Annotation c.
