Overview

Be careful here. This release isn't titled Best of Flying Burrito Brothers, it's Best of Burrito Brothers, and the difference, well, makes all the difference. The reformatted group dropped the "Flying" to become the Burrito Brothers in 1980 just prior to signing with Curb Records, and then released two albums for the label, Hearts on the Line in 1981 and Sunset Sundown in 1982 with a lineup of Pete Kleinow, Gib Guilbeau, Skip Battin, and John Beland (Kleinow left the band after the second Curb LP). This set draws from those two albums, and while it may indeed be the best of the Burrito Brothers, it doesn't even come close to the standards set by the original band when the brothers were still flying. Stick with the early incarnation. ~ Steve Leggett
