About the Author

David is the Vicar of a busy Parish in Yorkshire. England. He has written books and Bible Notes for BRF for a number of years, and has recently developed Parbar Publishing to bring the work of authors he enjoys to other readers.

David married in 1981 and he has four children. After the unexpected breakup of his marriage in early 1999, he became a lone parent for five years before meeting and marrying Gill.

David's leisure interests are varied - mechanics and tinkering, cabinet making, general building, plastering and plumbing, music, writing and poetry. He has always been of the opinion that all work and no play make the vicar a very dull man indeed.

He was born in Edinburgh in 1954, but grew up in and around London. At the age of eighteen he became a volunteer worker for CMS (Church Missionary Society) before studying Biblical Studies with Greek and Hebrew at Sheffield University. As a graduate, he worked in the service industry before training for ordination at Ridley Hall, Cambridge. Ordained in 1979, David has served in the dioceses of Bristol, Oxford and Wakefield. He has also been a Rural Dean, a Proctor on General Synod and served on a plethora of diocesan councils and committees.
