Overview

As with the previous books, JUNGLE LIVING: A LOOK AT LIFE AND SOCIAL BEHAVIOR OF MAN AND MONKEY IN CENTRAL AMERICA and COSTA RICA: MONKEYS, ANIMAL BEHAVIOR, and COGNITIVE NEUROSCIENCE, this book was written with the intention to introduce people to the extraordinary world that lies in the rich lands of Costa Rica, its animals and to the social and cognitive behavior of some of its inhabitants. It is hoped that through this book some of the exciting developments in the study of the brain, cognitive behavior, social behavior, nature and biology will open the doors for new generations of scientists and nature lovers to explore and ultimately bring their adventures and discoveries to life in a classroom.
The magnitude of nature conservation is an ever important subject in this changing world and the impacts we have upon these forests can illuminate the boundaries within which we have restricted ourselves and the animal inhabitants. Through the adulterated and unnatural habitats manipulated by man we may be able to make some comparison with the self-inflicted psychological difficulties facing our own convoluted society. Through observations of the means by which the animals deal with an anomalous environment we may be able to draw parallels and find some avenues to ameliorate the ever more prevalent difficulties facing societies.
This book is written with dedication to the environment and wildlife of Costa Rica. These forests and their inhabitants, as well as other natural areas worldwide, are the impetus for the ebook publication format although hard copies are available with larger pictures.
