Beloved Roots Birth: Walking With Women:
Beloved Roots Birth LLC is committed to supporting women emotionally, informationally, spiritually and physically throughout their pregnancy, birth and postpartum period.
It is our goal to not only provide clients with the tools and support to experience an empowering birth, but most importantly guide them in growing their relationship with the Lord during this transformative season.
At present, the birth community is extremely lacking in true, autonomous, faith-based doula/birth worker training organizations.
Many strictly teach doulas how to create "good patients" and monetize the doula profession, all while incorporating philosophies, ideologies and concepts that do not align with a Biblical worldview.
The goal of this training is to equip the next generation of birth workers to support and walk alongside women in their childbearing season of life, while also creating a community of like minded sisters that will hold each other up and be the hands and feet.

This handbook goes hand in hand with the Beloved Roots Birth faith-based birth worker training.
It encompasses all of the key topics covered in this training.

About the Author

Mikaela Engarde is a Christ following wife, mama and Traditional Community Midwife.
After experiencing lack of support and advocacy during her first pregnancy, birth and postpartum period, Mikaela discovered the true nature of how flawed our maternity care system is.
She began her birth worker journey as a doula nearly 9 years ago, committed to supporting clients in making informed choices and advocating for their rights.
Mikaela became certified with The International Doula Institute and offered both birth and postpartum doula services (CBD/CPD), as well as holistic, physiologic Childbirth Education from 2014-2023.
After years of witnessing obstetrical violence, lack of informed consent, policies and procedures that created poor outcomes and overall lack of human rights within the system, she clearly heard the call towards midwifery.
Mikaela has apprenticed closely with multiple community based and experienced midwives over the span of 3+ years. Additionally, she has slowly worked through the North American Registry of Midwives (NARM) PEP Process for CPM (Certified Professional Midwife) certification, which is nearing completion.

Mikaela is passionate about physiological birth and the true spiritual nature of the birth process.
Her faith is the center of all that she does, and her work is no exception.
She views birth work and midwifery as a ministry to which she has been called.
