Bella Donna; or, The Cross Before the Name. A Romance.
Poor Jenny Bell!

The Franklyns treat her as family while she stays with them at Grey Forest. That is until a budding romance with the eldest son threatens to destroy the family. He runs back to the military and Jenny is banished to finding her way in Victorian London. She eventually finds work as a governess, caring for three young children for the Maxwells, a lawyer and his ailing wife. Another forbidden romance (or two), another betrayal, another potential suitor. Each step Jenny takes is an attempt to get back to her beloved Grey Forest, but does she have the cunning and will to make it happen? Or will she be undone by her own craft?

This version includes supplemental material to the original text including an introduction to the work, a biography of the author, and a complete bibliography.
