At age 6, Michael Alexander discovers he likes guys when he plays doctor with his cousin James. At age 9, Michael sees a photo of his father and his father's former college roommate (Mike Marnes). The photo was taken when Michael's father and Mike Marnes got together for a weekend reunion about one month before Michael was born, Michael falls in love with the photo of Mike Marnes. Guided by the cogent advice of his big sister, Samantha, Michael navigates his way through numerous intimacy challenges on his way through prep school, college, and medical school. Michael eventually meets Mike Marnes and they become a loving and devoted couple. A third (and younger) man joins them 12 years later. Despite the age differences, the three become a team where each man looks out for the other two.
