About the Author

Victoria Black born in the suburbs of NJ to an Italian/Filipino family were she lived for the first seventeen years of her life. She has three siblings, two brothers, and an adopted sister. Her older brother sadly passed away in 2001. Victoria enjoys nature, writing, running, and reading. She has been married since 2008 to her husband Kevin whom she met in the US Army during training. Together they live in the countryside of Pennsylvania secretly hoping to move back south and get away from the snow. Victoria has always loved writing, when she was younger her mother used to say, "you could always find her with a pen and notebook in her hands."

Editorial Reviews

This YA fantasy is more than just a book about a magical fictional world. It inculcates themes such as friendship, talks about depression, and how good friends can get you out of a bad phase in life if you let them. The book is full of action and adventure and withholds a strong plot throughout. It's quite a short read but managed to engross me in Marinette's story! I very much want to move straight on to book two of this book series!
