About the Author

Dr. Joe Garri started off his educational journey as a dentist and oral and maxillofacial surgeon. To pursue his interests in treating children born with cleft lip and palate, he then went on to complete medical school, followed by residencies in general surgery and plastic surgery at the University of Miami. He finished his surgical training at UCLA with a one-year fellowship in craniofacial surgery. An author of multiple scientific articles and book chapters, Dr. Garri also co-edited a book on craniofacial surgery that was published in 2008. Throughout his career, he has remained involved in the education of medical students and young surgeons. He appreciates and enjoys the time he devotes to working with students, surgical residents, and fellows at all levels of training.
