About the Author

HELGA LADES ALLISON is a German-born, naturalized citizen of the United States who came to this country in 1953 after marrying an American soldier. She and her husband, Ralph, have been married for 65 years. They have three sons and daughters-in-law, six grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. Helga and Ralph live in Birmingham, Alabama and are long-time active members of Liberty Church where, even though both are in their eighties, they continue to serve by helping prepare weekly church dinners.


KATHLEEN JONES is a wife, mother, grandmother, and a graduate of Samford University. She is retired from a career in accounting. She and her husband of 45 years live in the Birmingham, Alabama area. Her interests include sewing, arts and crafts, study, and writing. Kathleen says, “Helga’s captivating story has added richness to my life and changed me. I am grateful for the privilege of sharing this uplifting message of encouragement and hope with others.”
