Overview

Batman readers were allowed to vote on the outcome of the story and they decided that Robin should die! As the second person to assume the role of Batman's sidekick, Jason Todd had a completely different personality than the original Robin. Rash and prone to ignore Batman's instructions, Jason was always quick to act without regard to consequences. In this fatal instance, Robin ignores his mentor's warnings when he attempts to take on the Joker by himself and pays the ultimate price. Driven by anger with Superman by his side, Batman seeks his vengeance as he looks to end the Joker's threat forever.

About the Author

Jim Starlin served in the U.S. Navy as a photographer's mate before embarking on a career in comics that has passed it's 35th year. His work as both writer and artist includes the titles COSMIC ODYSSEY, BATMAN, LEGION OF SUEPR-HEROES, MYSTERY IN SPACE and DEATH OF THE NEW GODS for DC Comics. HE is also the creator of the groundbreaking, multivolume science-fiction saga Dreadstar, which has outlived several publishers in its long history. He has more recently worked on a Rann-Thanagar Holy War miniseries, as well as creating a new origin for the classic hero Hawkman.

One of the most prolific and influential writers in modern comics, Marv Wolfman began his career as an artist. Wolfman has helped shape the heroic careers of DC Comics' Green Lantern and the original Teen Titans, as well as Marvel Comics' Fantastic Four, Spider-Man, Nova and Tomb of Dracula. In addition to co-crating THE NEW TEEN TITANS and CRISIS ON INFINITE EARTHS with George Perez, Wolfman was instrumental in the revamp of Superman after CRISIS. Tony Bedard has contributed to GREEN LANTERN CORPS, COUNTDOWN TO INFINITE CRISIS and BIRDS OF PREY. He joined DC Comics as an assistant editor for DCU and Vertigo, and then moved on to write various projects for VERTIGO, DC COMICS, Marvel, Image and CrossGen.
