Bar Tales
This is a Tale told by the Old Chief about a neighborhood bar, the kind that is fast disappearing from New York and its surrounding suburbs. Many interesting characters hang there, such as: policeman, firemen, sanitation men, construction guys, truck drivers, mob guys, pizza guys, the unemployed, and possibly a few murderers.
Each character has a story, intertwined with other characters. There is: Joey Unbrellas, Pete the Rug, Same the Jew, Gino the Bartender, Numbers Moe, Omaha Tony, GasPipe Louie, Saloon Face, The Stupid Sisters, Dancing Alfonse, The Great O'Hara, Mike the Cop, and Jody, the old slut, just to name a few.
It all takes place in the Down Da Hatch Bar, located in Queens, NYC; an old, run-down joint, owned by Jerry Martuci and his silent partner.
Stories emerge with more twists and turns than a barber pole, tales that include, crime, humor, intrigue, human nature, failures and victories -- all dating throughout the history of the old dump. Almost every patron of the bar had a tale to offer; some taking the usual 15 minutes, some a lot more.
Throughout the novel, there will be some comments from the Old Chief, explaining several points of interest .
