Overview

This CD collects together tenor saxophonist Paul Bascomb's United recordings of 1952. The material is pretty basic and R&B-ish, but fun, with the highlights including "Blues and the Beat," "Pink Cadillac," "Soul and Body," and "Indiana." The backup group includes trumpeter Eddie Lewis and pianist Duke Jordan, and the CD reissue adds four alternate takes to the original 13 selections. Recommended. ~ Scott Yanow
