Bacon's Rebellion, 1676
BACON'S REBELLION, 1676 recounts the events leading up to and including Bacon's Rebellion, the first (failed) rebellion in the English Colonies. Led by Nathaniel Bacon, a wealthy planter, the uprising was composed mostly of frontiersmen and yeoman farmers, but also some blacks who were angered by the continuing presence of Native Americans in the colony. While Indian raids contributed to the discontent surrounding the rebellion, the rebels were also deeply dissatisfied with the political leadership of the colony.
