About the Author

Steve Elam hails from the Grand Rapids area of Michigan. He joined the US Navy in 1976, serving as a technician specializing in anti-submarine warfare and as a member of a nuclear weapons handling team. In 1979 Steve was awarded a Navy Expeditionary Medal for participation in the evacuation of Americans trapped in Iran. After his Navy service, Steve settled in Olympia, WA, and began employment with the Washington State Legislature. He served more than 25 years in various capacities for the House of Representatives and with the lobbying firm of Chiechi & Associates. Steve earned an Associate of Arts degree from Ambassador College in Big Sandy, TX. He attended The Evergreen State College in Olympia, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree. Steve resides in the Seattle area.
