Overview

Though Maria is born in the United States, she has always been treated differently by the other children her age during the 1960s. Shortly after her parents relocate to St Louis, Missouri, Maria encounters a boy whose Mother is from Northern Italy.

Finding another immigrant family in the Midwest during this decade is somewhat unusual for Alessandro, who finds Maria to be a kindred soul. He immediately sets about familiarizing his new friend to the area. For children are disappearing, and Alessandro is determined to keep her safe.

About the Author

Matt Schmidt is currently based in the Warson Woods, MO area, and his family has its roots across the creek in East St. Louis. His dad's parents in fact met in St Louis shortly after WW2, and they spent the next decades building a family on the east bank of the river. After marrying Matt's mom, his parents moved elsewhere for awhile, but would always meet up with family once a year near Belleville or Alton.

During these gatherings, unproven and elaborate claims about his family history in the old country, and rumors about the area surrounding them in the new, have always fascinated him.

Though he has a vivid imagination, Matt has struggled to write his first book, and hopes you will enjoy it.
