This book on the autonomic nervous system consists of 250 pages of text and color graphics. The book is divided into two parts. The first part describes the structure and function of the autonomic nerves, and the second part addresses autonomic control of individual organ systems in a problem-based learning format. It is designed to make learning about the autonomic nervous system easier for teachers, students, and practitioners in medicine and allied health professions. By taking considerable care in integrating the written and visual components of each chapter, the authors more than met their objectives Persons working or studying in the field of human anatomy, physiology, or medicine who find the intricacies of the autonomic nervous system fascinating, yet at times perplexing, should visit this work. The authors put their credentials to task by creating an enlightening and entertaining treatise. The illustrations are key to the success of this book. Pertinent illustrations are found on the same or adjacent page to the corresponding text. The drawings are of such high quality that they could stand alone as instructional vignettes. The inclusion of the book in on CD-ROM adds another teaching dimension. Today's health-related education is becoming ever more dependent on a case-based/problem-solving format.
