Overview

Self reflection is difficult because the self is messy. Inside all of us there are things that are sticky, messy and difficult to look at. That is why we turn to artists, to give an entry point into our complex internal systems; to break us down in to parts that are easier to name and thus, easier to swallow. Auto-Dissection is a play and monologue anthology, spanning different themes and genres: comedy to drama; first love to dying alone. Aesthetically, it is a medical journal but functionally, it is a collection of pieces designed to be easily produced by small theaters or used in auditions. The pieces are divided thematically, using the four humors of Ancient Greek as guide points. Every piece however, is unified by one fundamental question that Auto-Dissection strives to ask: "What is in you, and how are you going to let it out?"
A portion of this book's proceeds will go to helping underfunded drama and forensics programs.
