504 Plan

A blueprint or plan for how the school will support and remove barriers for a student with a disability. It provides services and changes to the learning environment to enable students to learn alongside their peers. As with an IEP, a 504 plan is provided at no cost to families.
ABC Data
A data collection system used in ABA therapy and education settings.  ABC data describes instances of problem behavior in the environment and is collected through direct observation of the individual. ABC is an abbreviation for Antecedent (what occurs immediately before the behavior), Behavior (a detailed description of the behavior) and Consequence (what occurs immediately after the behavior. Parents and educators may be asked to collect ABC data as part of an IEP evaluation or treatment planning process.
Abstract Thinking
Thinking characterized by the use of general ideas or concepts. Adaptive (functional) skills: Skills used in daily lives. Skills that can be generalized in the home and community with others include functional independence, self-reliance, problem-solving, decision making, self-monitoring, coping skills, social pragmatics, social skills, social communication, and pursuit of leisure activities.
