Overview

The powerful energy of authentic hope is viewed from a living relationship with a real God and real people. With the understanding of the eternal, transcendent activity of hope, Arnold applies truth and life of the Spirit of God to the everyday journey. Every person is born with hope. Sometimes hope gets hijacked by anxiety, addiction, trauma or suicidal thinking. Identifying and evicting these intruders is possible! When partnered with grief, loss, pain and suffering, the sustaining activity and energy of hope is effective in possessing the unfolding future.
Whether in favor and confidence or grief and loss, authentic hope pulls toward a future filled with promise and destiny. Hope is described from the perspective of Psychology of Hope, Biology of Hope and Spirituality of Hope. Gaining insight into the resources of hope in body, soul and spirit, the reader is challenged to position the heart toward partnering with the God of all hope and a supportive community. In discovering an energy of hope that matches the effects of morphine or the strength of spirit to avoid suicide, hope is illustrated by real life stories of defeat and victory.
Clear understanding of the role of faith, hope and love increases the synergy of this trinity. Guidance in practical, effective activities for fostering hope in others as well as maintaining a hope-filled lifestyle equips the reader to co-create a promising future. Whether dealing with hope deferred or understanding the partnership of faith, hope and love, this fresh look at authentic hope will be especially helpful to those wanting to strengthen their foundation in this powerful truth.

About the Author

Arnold J. Allen
Born and raised in the mountains of northern Vermont, Arnold had planned to work the family dairy farm but opted for Nazarene Bible College in Colorado Springs. Graduating the youngest in his class, at 20 years of age Arnold, his wife Carol and young son, A.J. took on the responsibility of pastoring a church in New Brunswick, Canada. While hosting Youth With A Mission (YWAM) teams, in 1976 they decided to focus on discipleship and evangelism with the Mission. After nearly two decades in missions and international travel, Arnold returned to school to complete a Master of Counseling program at Trinity Western University in Langley, B.C. Canada in 1998. Arnold has worked in private practice most of his professional career. The Allen's are effective team presenters in seminars, small groups and counseling sessions.
The Allen’s have received training in Canada and South Africa with the Neethling Brain Instruments. This cutting edge thinking preference profile has proven effective in education, vocational selection, sports effectiveness training, business and hundreds of other applications. Among various applications, Arnold and Carol have found it to be a fruitful marriage and relationship communication tool.
Caring for people through counseling, training and hope building activities, they contribute love, wisdom and focused understanding to individuals, families and the community. They are often looked to as a father and mother in their circles of relationships.
