Auriculotherapy is based on proven correspondences between locations on the external ear and the internal organs and systems of the body. The ear acts like an input/output terminal in direct contact with the central nervous system. Information on viscerosomatic states can be accessed via visual clues, skin electro-conductivity, and pressure sensitivity at specific points.

The first part of Raphael Nogier's Auriculotherapy shows how acupuncture needles are used in sophisticated and powerful therapeutic interventions.

The second part introduces the principles and practice of auriculomedicine, a true frequency medicine that evolved from Dr. Paul Nogier's auriculotherapy, his discovery of the VAS (Vascular Autonomic Signal) in the pulse and his consequent observations of the diagnostic and therapeutic properties of radiant light frequencies on the skin.

The material presented here builds on and updates the work of the author's father, Dr. Paul Nogier, who scientifically explored and charted the auricular microsystems in the 1950s.

Description: This advanced level auriculotherapy book is richly illustrated, with an outline format that makes finding clinically useful information easy.
Purpose: The author wants to use his many years as a leader in the field of auriculotherapy to provide a "simple and straightforward book [that] outlines the fundamental knowledge essential for understanding auriculotherapy." It is a worthy objective that he accomplishes with aplomb. However, the book does not meet his other objective, which is to make people who are unfamiliar with auriculotherapy, competent. It will help established practitioners refine their skills, but this book requires, at the least, a modicum of acupuncture and auricular knowledge.
Audience: Established acupuncturists will find this book refreshing and useful. Advanced students or those in an auriculotherapy class can use this book for additional readings. The author, the son of the founder of auriculotherapy, Paul Nogier, is, in his own right, a leader in the field of auriculotherapy.
Features: After covering the basic foundations of auriculotherapy, the book quickly dives into a treatment section. The last part of the book contains more experiential and advanced approaches to therapy. The contents page is handy and will be your main guide to finding the information you need quickly. The layout makes finding the relevant information in each section a snap, thanks to the outline format and extensive use of richly illustrated diagrams. The small size makes it easy to carry in a lab coat or a bag.
Assessment: This is a high quality, useful book well suited for clinical practice. It is designed for ease of use and makes the complex, advanced, French version of auriculotherapy seem simple. It contains many pearls from a leader in the field — what kind of stimulation, and with which device (i.e., intradermal needles, probe, standard needles, electro-stim, or laser). It also describes the realistic parameters of the clinically relevant uses of auriculotherapy. While there are many auriculotherapy books from which to learn, this is the one you will want to keep close in clinical practice.
