Educators are facing new challenges: to educate a post-COVID-19 population of diverse students. Addressing the needs of atypical student populations has become an issue of discussion for teachers, school districts, and parents, particularly those who have been diagnosed with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). Many teachers have misconceptions about ADHD (students), and many parents have not been informed how ADHD affects their children; many teachers and parents are unaware of their needs; they are struggling academically, and they are in need of other supports, including social and emotional supports. Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder: Addressing the Challenges of Atypical Student Populations of the 21st Century addresses these needs. It is a practical manual for teachers and parents; in simple language, it describes its types, characteristics, and symptoms; it explains how it affects the executive functions, in relation to all three domains, cognitive, affective and psychosocial. For the teachers, including general education and special education teachers, there are examples of accommodations, interventions, and teaching strategies. For the parents, it is a guide to understanding ADHD, their ADHD child, and how to provide support.
