Description: Functional neuroanatomy is crucial for the correct understanding of multiple neurological and neurosurgical diseases. Atlases in this area are, therefore, crucial when updated with the latest information.
Purpose: The purpose of this book is to address the functional neuroanatomy of the sensory organs, i.e., the explanation, by means of graphics and drawings, of their specific functions. These worthy objectives are fully met by the authors.
Audience: Neurologists and neuroscientists are the main audience for this book.
Features: The book is divided into five chapters covering all sensory organs. Self-explanatory tables, graphs, and drawings allow the reader to fully comprehend complex concepts on the functional neuroanatomy of hearing, vision, and other sensory modalities. A unique characteristic of this book is the easy-to-read spread-out table of contents at the end of each chapter. The accompanying CD-ROM adds a multimedia overview of each of the topics. The price is appropriate and the book is, indeed, a good buy.
Assessment: This is an important addition to anyone's library but, in particular, to neuroscience and neurology libraries.
