Description: Although this book is intended to cover newer techniques of minimally invasive hand surgery, some of the techniques are new and some are not, and some of the techniques are not minimally invasive.
Purpose: The purpose is to describe new, minimally invasive techniques of hand and wrist surgery.
Audience: Hand surgeons are the intended audience.
Features: This is a compendium of new techniques which are supposed to be minimally invasive. Some of the techniques are market-driven implants that do not address a need. Others, such as volar osteotomy of the radius on a bridging plate, are not minimally invasive.
Assessment: The book includes new hand surgery techniques that are very loosely related by being minimally invasive. Some of the techniques, such as wrist arthroscopy, are well accepted. Other techniques, such as nailing of a distal radius metacarpal fracture, are old ideas with a newer market-driven approach. The book is interesting but inconsistent.
