Athelstan's World
A simple decision can change the course of one's life. Sometimes that same decision can change the course of history. Athelstan, a 4th century BC Barbarian General, makes just such a decision. He turns aside from the appointed quest given him by his King, to save a grubby young sneak thief from brutal Spartan justice. By doing so he sets in motion a series of events that rock the very fabric of the civilized world. He stumbles into a game he does not understand. A game that has no rules. A game, quite impossible for him to win.
His naive meddling upsets the status quo and captures the attention of a powerful and ruthless tyrant. This shadow organisation turns its full attention towards the destruction of Athelstan and his strange female companion. This girl holds the key to an incredible mystery, which stretches the length and breadth of the Classical world, and throughout what remains of Alexander the Great's Empire.
Can he stay alive long enough to discover her true identity as well as the tyrant's true desires? That may prove difficult since she might be...
...the enemy.

About the Author

M. F. Harding is both a writer and an amateur historian. His love of the Celts, their Druidic faith, combined with his interest in archaeology, has placed him in a unique position to write this historical adventure. He selected the 4th century BCE because the classical world was in a state of flux. The Greek Empire is fractured. Alexander the Great is 14 years dead, and the rise of Rome seems imminent. The entire world has taken a deep breath waiting to see what is to come. What indeed?
Research for this book has taken him over two decades and he has been aided every step of the way by friends, family, and academics worldwide. He has peered into the long forgotten nooks and crannies of history and has challenged many of the beliefs concerning ancient Druidry and the elder race of Celts.
He currently lives on the West coast of Canada with his wife and polydactyl cat. He is working on the sequel to Athelstan’s World, Athelstan Betrayed.
