Overview

Astrid and Apollo get spooked during a science exhibit that takes a surprising turn! Eight-year-old Hmong American twins Astrid and Apollo are looking forward to the traveling museum, where replicas of dinosaurs, mummies, and prehistoric creatures will be on display. But Astrid is NOT looking forward to seeing the mummies, especially after she and Apollo watch a scary movie in which mummies come back to life! Apollo and their friend Kiran try to convince Astrid to conquer her fear of “things that can’t happen.” But then at the traveling exhibit, all three kids get a scary surprise—and Astrid’s new courage is put to the test! About the Author

V.T. Bidania was born in Laos and grew up in St. Paul, Minnesota. She spent most of her childhood writing stories and now that she’s an adult, she is thrilled to be writing stories for children. She has an M.F.A. in Creative Writing from The New School and is a recipient of the Loft Literary Center’s Mirrors & Windows Fellowship. She lives outside of the Twin Cities with her family.

César Samaniego was born in Barcelona in 1975. He grew up with an artist father, smelling his father's oils, reading his comic books, and trying to paint over his father's illustrations! He attended Llotja Arts and Crafts School and graduated with honors in 2010. Since then he has published many books and provided art for apps, textbooks, and animations. César lives in Canet de Mar, a small town on the coast of Barcelona, with his wife, daughter, five cats, and a crazy dog.
