About the Author

William Angus Knight (1836–1916) was born in Scotland, educated at the University of Edinburgh, and became professor of moral philosophy at the University of St. Andrews. He edited and partially wrote the eleven volumes of Wordsworth’s Works and Life and the fifteen-volume Philosophical Classics for English Readers.
