As a Man Thinketh in His Heart So Is He
In 1918 George Washington Carey published the book "The Wonders of the Human Body, Physical Regeneration" which included a 10-page chapter titled "As a Man Thinketh in His Heart So Is He." Due to the intense interest in the advice offered in this chapter it has been reprinted by itself as a separate publication multiple times. It is this chapter that has been republished here for the convenience of the interested reader.
In describing his theory, Carey writes:
"The higher and more lofty the quality of the thought, the finer or higher the vibration. Just as the vibration of the ether strikes upon the tympanum of the ear and produces sound—so are the spirallae of the brain cells operated upon by the fingers of the heavenly man, when the Kingdom is sought. Thought, then, is a vibration, and as a man thinks so does he vibrate his brain cells."
George Washington Carey (1845–1924) was an American physician known for a number of 1910s 'chemistry of life' publications, a subject which he referred to as biochemistry, particularly his 1919 The Chemistry of Human Life, all generally using a mixture of religion, astrology, physiology, anatomy, and chemistry, themed particularly with a mineral-based theory of human disease. Carey is popular among the new-age and homeopathic circles. In the context of a person viewed as a "human molecule", Carey was the first to state that a person's body is a "chemical formula in operation."
