About the Author

Catrina Briscoe is a brilliant artist with wide variety of interests.

As a sculptor, she creates works of art that are inspired by el Dia de los Muertos (the Day of the Dead) and the beauty and humor she sees everyday in life. She became captivated by el Catrin and la Catrina while traveling in Mexico. She puts a modern spin on the character she shares a name with.

Catrina’s sculptures have been featured in numerous Dia de los Muertos art shows, including shows in Oregon, Texas, and New Mexico. La Catrinas by Catrina are available directly and at several galleries, the location of each piece is available on her website. While much of her work consists of commissioned la Catrinas she always has a dynamic variety of work available.

As a professional photographer she strives to capture and share beauty.

As a chef she strives to develop, enhance and share flavor.

As a food stylist she combines the two.

She has had a fascination with both food and photography since childhood. The two are combined in The Tasteful Muse.

'We are surrounded by delicious flavors, the potential for delicious flavors. Many people don’t think they have the time or the money to prepare their own foods. But I disagree, and I can show you how to Savor your Life!' While she does enjoy preparing and sharing a seven course meal, most often her foods are simple, and simply delicious. But mostly she enjoys sharing her passion for life.


Catrina's award winning photography reflects the beauty she sees all around her. She is often drawn to macro work, intrigued by the fine details. There is significant beauty in the details, and often it’s missed. By sharing her perspective you will see something from an angle you haven’t previously noticed. Beauty and art are everywhere around us.
