About the Author

A Featured Teller at the National Storytelling Festival and the Smithsonian Folk Life Festival, Lepp has been telling original, fantastical stories written by himself and his brother for fifteen years. A regular at the West Virginia Liars Contest since 1990, he’s been named Biggest Liar five times. The fact that he is also an ordained Methodist Minister lends him a unique perspective, sometimes knocking your socks off with his interpretation of the Good Book. Many of the tales take place in the great outdoors of the West Virginia hills. Some are about hunting with his superdog Buck; some are about fishing, especially cat-fish grabblin’ and stinky catfish bait; but almost all of them are about getting out of scrapes using good old Mountaineer ingenuity. His popularity has made Bil a featured storyteller at festivals all over the country.
Bil’s funny fibs and down-home delivery will bring a smile to the face of even the most ill-humored among us. Following Bil from childhood to adulthood, his stories’ feature wacky adventures with woodpeckers, summer camp, armadillo hunting and his in-laws. Lepp is the author of three books of stories, two audio collections, and has had stories published in several national magazines.
Duke Divinity Magazine called Bil’s stories, "Awe-inspiring cathedrals of flapdoddle and bull." The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel wrote, “The audience could barely stop laughing long enough to catch the next twist in the tale.”
