About the Author

My name is Kala Johnson and I'm an independent artist who loves working with children. I’ve enjoyed working as an arts and crafts teacher in many different communities for seven years and it has been a joy introducing the youth to many different forms of art. Influencing young minds has led me to want to venture further into many different avenues of art. Children often share their interests with me regarding their favorite Tv shows, books, and even graphic clothing styles. This has inspired me to want to pursue storyboarding and other artistic fields to be a part of the media that they love to share with others. Over the years I have obtained a Master’s Degree in 2D Animation, a Bachelor's Degree in 2D Animation, created graphic medicine novels for patients in children’s hospitals and the United Nations to help spread disease awareness to other cultures. I've also completed a fantasy children's book and will be releasing more in the future. My skill set includes storyboarding, children’s books, 2D animation, illustration, graphic design, and graphic novels.

My current goal is to be a part of the animation industry as a storyboard artist. My main influences that have inspired me to pursue storyboarding are the boards from Studio Ghibli’s Spirited Away and Howl's Moving Castle, Disney’s Lilo and Stitch and Princess and the Frog , Pixar’s Toy Story and The Incredibles, and much more. I hope to one day be a part of a team that will create works of art that inspire many people and future artists.
