Listeners notice right away a particular excellence in background sounds: murmuring voices, airplane engines, the pop of gunfire—none of it in your face but enhancing the story nicely. The five actors, one woman and four men, with the latter in multiple roles, do their jobs well, especially in projecting the emotions of the moment. Hubbard published widely in the pulps between 1932 and 1950, this title in FIVE NOVELS MONTHLY (1938). We meet a Canadian Mountie under attack, bad guys in airplanes with machine guns, and officious superiors who disapprove of his tough-guy methods. The production is also a character study and a love story. Call this one an audio play and enjoy it. D.R.W. © AudioFile 2014, Portland, Maine
