About the Author

Mohammed Mahfoodh Al Ardhi is the Executive Chairman of Investcorp, a leading international provider of alternative investments with a special focus on the Gulf with approximately $11.5 billion of assets under management. Founded in Bahrain in 1982, two thirds of its hedge fund clients are based outside the Gulf region, making it a global player.

He is also the Chairman of National Bank of Oman, one of the country's largest financial institutions.

Mr. Al Ardhi serves on the International Advisory Board of The Brookings Institution in Washington, D.C. and as a trustee for the Eisenhower Fellowship in Philadelphia.

He is the former Chief of the Omani Air Force. In that capacity he was Chairman of the Oman–US Military Commission and Chairman of the Oman–Iran Military Committee. Air Vice Marshal Al Ardhi was awarded the Order of Oman by His Majesty Sultan Qaboos Bin Said Al Said. He later received the Order of Al Amjad and Order of Al Istihqaq.

Mr. Al Ardhi received his training and education as a fighter pilot from Royal Air Force Military Academy in Cranwell, UK, the Command and Staff College in Bracknell, UK, and the National Defense University in Washington, D.C.

Following his military and diplomatic service, he completed a Master's Degree in Public Policy from the John F. Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University.
