Apache Dawn is an incredible work of fiction based on the conversations between investigative reporter Marlene Krueger and the multiple personalities of one Ariaen Davis whose life story takes place. Marlene certainly likes challenges and wants to find out the truth about Ariaen or if she is wasting her time on a charlatan.
"It started with an autobiography entitled 'All Things Are Possible', written and self-published by an unknown author, Ariaen Davis.... I started my probe in Denver, Colorado, the location of her birthplace and childhood home. Next, I journeyed to Las Vegas, Nevada, where I interviewed her two brothers. I stopped over in River Bottom, Arkansas, the hideout of her fugitive, first husband. In Excelsior County, Wyoming, and El Paso County, Texas, I researched court records. I also debriefed the autobiographer's old friends, former pastors, and other persons who knew her, including her first and second husbands. I weighed all the evidence. Her 'stranger than fiction' account of her life passed my tests of truth. I set out to find the unknown author, to see what she had become, and to determine how she had fared in the last twenty-nine years."
Ariaen's early life certainly was tragic, sordid, and bizarre. Abused by her babysitter; trying to seduce her friends as a teenager; a sordid tale of her relationship with her father; a pact with Satan and suffering the consequences of "her satanic marriage" resulting in the ruination of her life and friends.
Marlene dissects, analyses, records and reaches a number of conclusions based on her interactions with Ariaen. This makes for a fascinating story – with many unexpected surprises.
Marlene's final thoughts about Ariaen, "The life story reads as science fiction, Shakespearean drama, and 'Touched by an Angel' rolled into one. What should be fiction is fact. All things are possible...
The days of our lives consist of more than grains of sand passing through an hourglass. An hourglass constricts sand, leaving it no place to go but south through a slender tube. Sand in an hourglass never changes. Day after day, year after year, gravity pulls those same grains of sand through the same slender tube. Those grains have no greater purpose than to empty themselves from top to bottom, and then flip over and again empty themselves in an endless cycle of meaningless repetition. Vast seas of shifting sands, changing shape and direction with every blast of wind, as do those wavelike dunes at White Sands National Monument, better represent human transience through this earthly plane of existence. A simple question comes to mind: How do we gain solid ground, or preserve our footprints in the sand, or prove our being when sand gives way beneath our feet, and winds of change instantly create new patterns-erasing our footprints and, subsequently, the evidence of our journey-whether we move backward, forward, or side-to-side? "
Apache Dawn: Sex, Secrets and the Supernatural may keep you up at night – and will certainly challenge your thinking – in an entertaining and provocative read.
