Overview

Why is the world's best selling book so hard to read? That book is the Bible. It's so big and ancient and obscure! At least that is what many people think.
But there really is an easy way to make sense of the Bible. Relax. Realize that its writers meant for it to be understood. If we don't force our preconceptions on it, the writers' point of view will jump into focus.
This author offers you a simple, non-creedal framework for understanding the important basics of the Bible. He takes you through its nine sections as layer is added to layer until the initial conflict finds a surprising solution and then a promising conclusion.
Come along for the journey and see why the Bible is the world's most cherished, illegal, and misunderstood book. Its message has given hope to the despairing, softened the hearts of the hardened, strengthened the powerless, and humbled tyrants.
What kind of message can do all that?
Open these pages and find out.

About the Author

Craigory Scott was raised in a nominal Christian environment in Wisconsin. A professed atheist in his later teens, he made the same happy mistake as many others who decided to research the claims of Christianity in order to strengthen their argument against Christ. That effort so often shortens the career of the most earnest of deniers. In his case, while in a bookstore and through no plan of his own, his eyes found a warm sunset photo on the cover of a cheap, paperback Good News for Modern Man New Testament. Since it included simple cartoon drawings and no “thee” or “thou” language, he felt it was a safe read. But it was not at all about his preconceived version of Christianity. He felt that God used this time in that New Testament to connect the dots and make sense of the human experience. Within two or three weeks, he was a new follower of Jesus.
Scott earned a B.A. in English Literature at the University of Wisconsin – Parkside and an M.Div. at G.G.B.T.S., which now goes by Gateway Seminary in Ontario, California. His ministry career has been as a tent-maker, employed in production management and compliance while serving in small churches without a salary. Along the way he led a local interdenominational college ministry, partnered in a church start, served as church elder and minister of education, sat on a regional denomination board, wrote curricula, organized youth ministries, and led thousands of small group Bible studies. He hopes this book will help open the door to greater treasure hunting in the writings which we call the Bible.
