Published as a historian of Russian literature of since 1959 in respected literary journals. In addition, he has published over two hundred articles on the history of Russian literature. Made his debut as a writer-idyllic novel "Lies haze on the old steps" in the magazine Znamya. Novel Lies haze on the old stage by the decision of the jury Russian Booker voted the best Russian novel of the first decade of the new century.
