Kilmeny of the Orchard is the story of a young man named Eric Marshall who goes to teach a school on Prince Edward Island and meets Kilmeny, a mute girl who has perfect hearing. He sees her when he is walking in the woods and hears her playing the violin. He visits her a number of times and gradually falls in love with her.
Magic for Marigold is about a little girl growing up in a house full of grown-ups. She has to rely on her own imagination to find entertainment. Out through the Magic Door of the Orchard Room is a magic gate which is the entrance to a fairyland, if you know the rhyme. In this wonderful land lives Sylvia, the only friend Marigold has. But what happens to the magic as you grow up a become entangled with real life?
Jane of Lantern Hill. Jane Victoria Stuart lived with her mother and her very wealthy grandmother on 60 Gay Street. It was all very upscale and posh and thanks to her grandmother, everyone was very, very miserable. Jane often wished her mother would stand up to the old woman or that she had a father, and maybe he could do it.

About the Author

Lucy Maud Montgomery CBE (November 30, 1874 April 24, 1942), called "Maud" by family and friends and publicly known as L.M. Montgomery, was a Canadian author best known for a series of novels beginning with Anne of Green Gables, published in 1908. Anne of Green Gables was an immediate success. The central character, Anne, an orphaned girl, made Montgomery famous in her lifetime and gave her an international following. The first novel was followed by a series of sequels with Anne as the central character. Montgomery went on to publish 20 novels as well as 500 short stories and poems. Because many of the novels were set on Prince Edward Island, Canada and the Canadian province became literary landmarks. By the way, CBE is Commander of the Order of the British Empire.
