Overview

A parable full of bitter irony and sarcasm. The tragicomic story of a community of animals that decided to get rid of human oppression and fell under the tyrannical rule of pigs. Such is George Orwell's "Animal Farm". The story depicts the evolution of a community of naive animal revolutionaries who expelled its owner, the loser Mr. Jones, from the farm: the evolution from romantic freedom and equality to the dictatorship of an insidious and self-serving boar nicknamed Napoleon. In the story, Orwell showed the transformation of revolutionary principles and programs, that is, the gradual transition from the ideas of general equality and the construction of utopia to dictatorship and totalitarianism. From the beginning, "Animal Farm" was perceived as an allegory for the revolution of 1917 and subsequent events in Russia. But after that, until our days, how many revolutions of various kinds have occurred in the world, which, as if on a copier, reproduced the tragic course of events described by Orwell. Translated into Ukrainian by Julia Shmatko.
